Alcohol Likely Culprit in Hancoc Crash

Of course it won't be made a big deal about, as alcohol is as vital to baseball as any single influence, but this is the second alcohol related incident with the Cards this year (LaRussa's DUI this spring the other). Hancoc had a crash just a few days earlier (again, likely alcohol was involved). Baseball is served in mass quantities to anyone with cash in their hands, with no limit.
With all the furor over performance-enhancing drugs, where's the outrage over alcohol?

That is an easy one Axtell you stupid ding dong.
Performance enhancing drugs make a mockery of even sport competition. Especially when the public pays hard earned cash to watch what is supposed to be a level playing field.
Alcohol wreaks HAVOC in EVERY walk of life and EVERY corner of the globe ...... YEARS and YEARS before there was a sport such as baseball.
Can this forum please rid itself of this IDIOT already?

As I mentioned, thank goodness he did not kill anyone on the side of the road, but I find it difficult to muster any sypathy for him, especially with the combo of alcohol and pot.

Hey everyone, Did you hear about Josh? It's all over the radio...and the dashboard.... and the steeringwheel...
Anyway, this alleged weed smoking inebriate was a waste. He could have taken out an innocent person due to this. As a matter of fact, wasn't he involved in another accident a few days earlier? That and sleeping in late when he was due for a game? Hey, if I have a job to do and have to get up and behave like normal people, then baseball players should have to do the same, especially with the money they are paid. No sorrow for this guy, especially given the fact that he got behind the wheel when drunk and he was even on the phone. Darwin wins this one.
Remember these Chuck Norris Facts
1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris

sadly, I agree. Good lesson for teenagers is in here somewhere.

classless.
<< <i>Must be nice to be perfect, to have never had even a sip of alcohol and gotten behind the wheel, never taken otc medication and driven, never driven tired, never eaten or talked on the cel while driving... Dude made the same mistake that 10s of thousands of others have, but because people worship pro athletes and get off on dirty little media-fed details, every little detail becomes a matter of public record.

Are you serious? You can let one little thing slide (say talking on the phone), but the combination of all these things were grossly irresponsible.
he didnt make just ONE mistake.. he made all of them. He was stupid and died, its hard to feel sorry for someone like that. I feel sorry for his friends, his team and his family, but Im happy that no one else had to pay for incredibly stupid and irresponsible behavior.
<< <i> Can't say that Im surprised. >>
me neither Boba.....anytime there's an accident and it's between midnight and 3:00 am........there's gonna be booze involved.
I heard the news of the crash and was like.......what time was it?........oh.....12:30 am?...........yup.
sure enough
Not surprised who started this thread... Someone who wishes death upon fellow posters.
Karma came back to haunt, beyatch.
...why is no one talking about the cell phone? Everyone is focusing almost exclusively on the booze, which is certainly a reasonable thing to do, but I think this should be held as an example about several kinds of distracted/impaired driving, not JUST alcohol, all of which are not cool while driving. Plenty of studies have demonstrated that using cell phones in cars results in a significantly increased accident rate, perhaps on par with a just-over-the-line BAC. Yet cell phones keep getting a pass.
