Nolan Ryan 1980 Topps Contract on Ebay - Cool Item for the Ryan Collector!

image

I saw this at the Toppsvault while searching for comic art.

This is a pretty cool item for the Ryan collector - I resized it so it wouldn't eat the screen.

I wouldn't mind having it - but it's already up to 135 bucks with 4 days to go!

Just thought it would be fun to show it.

Awesome. I always wondered about these contracts. Actually, it is a very simple cantract.

I always wondered how much money a few of the players (Maury Wills for a couple of years) turned down from TOPPS.

100's of these made there way to eBay a few years ago. I picked up a few semi-stars for around $15 each...but I am not sure if I have them anymore. All the ones I had, like this one, are not as interesting as they could be as they are extensions of previous contracts.

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

    Very cool, Mike.

    A $75 extension bonus in 1980, eh?
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

The big floodgate was in 1989 - the Guernsey auction - and items were stamped with the date of the auction on them.

Really old stuff went out then - I was overseas at the time and missed it - stuff went in large lots and for a fair price.

As the stuff comes up now - if someone has older contracts - especially stars - let the fur fly!

A piece of comic art - back with stamp:

I was happy to pick up a similar contract of Mike Schmidt's from late in the Fall of 1971. A very cool piece for a player collector.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

The Chris Sabo contract sold a few weeks back... sadly, I was outbid. I went for far more than I figured it would... somwhere in the $70 range.

I'd still like to have it... just wasn't around for the end of the auction, and my bid didn't hold up. : (

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!
