Unusual Mantle painting on eBay... oil on Zippo?

Came across this on eBay this morning. That's a Zippo lighter. Here's a link to the auction. Very nice painting, I think. Just not sure about the "canvas".

I didn't know who he was - so I checked - he's an American Impressionist - makes sense by the style.
He does nice work - I would rather have something on canvas for display reasons.
The Ruth aint bad!
