He had very good looking stuff. It's a shame, but this boy is a keeper!
  • How depressing is that. The kid looked great! I hope it is not serious.

Tough break for an exciting prospect with a HUGE upside. Man, the injury bug just keeps biting these Yanks in the rear this year.

This is getting WAY out of hand. Whoever is responsible for training the Yankees needs to be let go.

Actually, they let go the guy who had been their conditioning coach after last season and replacved him with two new fitness coaches. Obviously, the results have not been too impressive thus far.

    I blame A-Rod....image

I bet he broke the club house rule of not talking to the pitcher while they are pitching a no hitter.

  • Has any Rookie ever pitched a No-Hitter in his 1st or 2nd game?

  • regarding rookies and no hitters...from Wikipedia.

"Many Hall-of-Fame pitchers never pitched a no-hitter, whereas some journeymen or short-career pitchers strike gold. The most notorious of the latter is probably Bobo Holloman.

In 1953, Bobo Holloman of the St. Louis Browns pitched a no-hitter in his first major league start (not his first major league game though, as he had made a few relief appearances earlier in the season). This game would prove to be one of only three major league wins that Holloman achieved, against seven losses, all in 1953. Bill Veeck, then-owner of the Browns, in his autobiography described the 27 outs of Holloman's no-hitter as consisting of hard-hit ground balls, screaming line drives, and deep fly balls.

In 1991, Wilson Alvarez of the Chicago White Sox pitched a no-hitter in his second career major league start. During Alvarez's first career start, he allowed three runs on a pair of home runs and didn't retire a single batter. In all, 19 rookies have pitched a no-hitter, the most recent being Anibal Sanchez of the Florida Marlins in 2006."

Uggggh...I'd ask what else can go wrong, but I'm afraid I'd get the answer!! What they need to do now is be VERY CAREFUL with this young guy, we don't need him ruined like Prior & Wood & Lariano et al. This is guy supposed to be the future, I pray to God they take care of him.

Too bad. I'm not sure what it is about injuries this year. My Jays' just put Gustavo Chacin on the DL. He is their 7th guy this year. Last year, they put 7 guys on the DL the entire season. Here's the DL list for the Jays:

    B.J. Ryan - our closer
Reed Johnson - our leadoff hitter
Troy Glaus (back now) - our No. 5 hitter
    Gustavo Chacin - 3rd starter
    Greg Zahn - starting catcher
Brandon League - set up man
Davis Romero - swing guy in pen

What is going on? Is it the cold weather?

You think his physical injury is painful? What about the fact that now, for the rest of his life, he's going to wonder; had he been able to go on and give it his all, would he have completed what every pitcher dreams of doing? image
