I'm thinking an easy grand:

Very sharp PSA 8

Hard to tell from that scan, but the only difference I think I see between that card and a number of 7s I've seen (including my own) is the lack of snow in the background. Pretty nice card there.

Why would the Landrum draw that much more than the Foytack PSA 8 that fetched about $700-$800 a few weeks ago? The Landrum has one less PSA 8 than Foytack, but one PSA 9, as opposed to none for the Foytack. I really don't know the set too much, just an honest question.

I think for a number of years, there were only two or three Landrums ever graded PSA 8. It is only in the past year or so that another five were graded, but up until that point, it was considered the toughest regular-issue baseball card to find in NM/MT condition from the 1960s
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    Mike-
I threw in a bid to keep it honest. I will be watching the card. I think it will probably hit your number that you are looking for.

Shane - not my card, but after seeing the bidding for the first day, I think Don may be closer than I will be.

    gosteelers.....

The Landrum has gotten quite a bit of attention the last several years as being the most difficult card in the entire decade of the 1960's. That attention will bring out the strong bids although I agree with you that the Foytack should be on par. Actually, right now, I believe the 1962 George Witt card wins the prize for toughest with the fewest 8's.

similar to the 56 topps mitchell and pless, when i was doing the set they were only a few apart in the pop reports and much tougher than anything else but the mitchell would go for 1k + and pless 200.

Not sure this will break the $1,000.00 barrier as the last Landrum on ebay sold for $754.00 on 1/23/07. I agree with Mariner the the #287 Wittis the most difficult card from the '62 Topps set to find in PSA-8. I haven't ever seen one offered on ebay; I was fortunate to have one I submitted to PSA come back in a PSA-8 holder. I knew it was a lower-pop card, but had no idea it would turn out to be a card that was on many wantlists.
  • I predict $1,200. Looks like a pretty nice 8, but still a very crappy scan for such a high demand card.

Past $1,200 with half an hour to go. I still think Don may be right - we'll see how many guys have a snipe set high...

$1,221 is the closed price - no snipes! Kurtman guessed it. Wow, that is a lot of money for a PSA 8 common.

Money well spent until 2 more 8s hit.
