Ooohh, figured out something new: rejuvenating a 1992 Donruss Phenom card

I got a set of 1992 Donruss Rookies Phenoms a while back, and was a little disappointed when it looked like the gold foil had chipped off over time. Oh well. Well, tonight, I figured out that the foil didn't chip off, it actually had some sort of residue on it. So, I took a very lightly damped cloth and wiped it across the foil area, and... presto!

All shiney and new again!

I don't see what's wrong with it. Why is it bad with coins?

I wonder how long it'll take for the residue to come back though. Anyone have some of these in holders with the residue visible?

Anyone recently rip some packs of this and find residue on the foil of these cards?
