If I am correct, I believe the winning bidder on the coin was error specialist, Glen Berger. Glen is a bone-fide expert in error coinage and has always been along with Fred Weinberg, one of the good guys. I purchased my first error coins, a few broadstrikes, from him back in '99 at the Phoenix Coin Expo.

If it was Glen who bid $178 and won the coin, you can bet it's worth the price.

I'll take that bet. Given all of the other red flags surrounding that auction, I don't see any way that coin is going to be a real error. The seller claims to have more of them, I'll bet that you won't see Glen bidding on any of them.

Yea, after I posted I re-read the eBay listing and cringed when I read that statement. All bets off on that one! image
