Cardinals pitcher dies in car wreck; game postponed
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancoc was killed in a car accident early on Sunday, the team said. The Cardinals' Sunday game against the Chicago Cubs was postponed because of the death. Hancoc, 29, was a relief pitcher with a record of 0-1 and 3.55 ERA in eight games this season. He had pitched three innings in St. Louis' 8-1 loss to the Cubs on Saturday, giving up two hits and one run while striking out two. Hancoc was a member of the Cardinals' World Series championship team last season, when he was 3-3 in 62 games. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch said Hancok died at the scene after his Ford Explorer ran into the rear end of a tow truck stopped on Highway 40 to help a disabled vehicle. The tow truck driver was in his vehicle at the time but was not injured, the newspaper said.
All of the sudden the game itself seems so unimportant.

headlines. It is disgusting.
I can't put a link because his name isn't allowed, but his dad is suing the restaurant, manager, tow company, tow driver, disabled motorist.
Apparently they made him drive drunk and have pot and speed and talk to his girlfriend on the phone!!
Oh, and why can't some of you write "Hancock?"
If seems only those that have 10,000+ posts can use the proper spelling of cawck
<< <i>Hancawck

<< <i>I don't think they will. If I were one of the defendants, I'd take my chances in the courtroom, assuming it ever even makes it to that point. People here are almost universally appalled by the actions of Mr. Hanc-ck, who apparently graduated from the George W. Bush School of Goodwill Management. >>
What's the point of dropping this political turd into the punch bowl? Are some people incapable of refraining from turning everything into politics?
As someone else already said, yeah, if this is Mr. Hancock's idea of absolving responsibility away from his son, it's no wonder his son grew up to be so reckless and irresponsible, at least where marijuana, drinking and driving (without a seat belt, no less) are concerned.
