I mean, I know it's a Roosevelt Dime (1989 D) - but why is it GOLD & how come it's in this thin cellophane wrapper?? Was this for some kind of promotion or something?

Hi Raq,

I was in sales and marketing many years for Nabisco/Kraft, and although that doesn't ring a specific bell, I would say it was some sort of promotion for a food or other consumer product company. We did a lot of similiar things back in the 80's and 90's.

I've got a collection (on a display card) from a plating company of gold, silver and platinum plated nickels. Maybe this came from a plating company advertising their plating expertise.
