I like the look of the toning, but the rims look rough... perhaps the photo has exaggerated that?

strange look to that coin. i have to say it does look original but
in a bad sorta way. obviously no one has tried to clean it up...

but does it really have that color in hand?

i like it... if it is real "gunk" then i really like it... love when dirt accentuates the features of the coin... creates contrast.

I had an 1856 that looked just like that. I think it was slabbed, too, as I recall. Which was kinda weird.

I would call that coin a nice CircCam™.

I like the look of the toning for its contrast, and it is not as unusual as some might have you believe. I have seen similar. Sure, it looks like there is some faint rim chatter there; enough perhaps to mention but maybe not quite enough to warrant calling it a "problem" coin in my book.

I like it, and would put it at VF35 overall (rim chatter noted but not net graded). I agree with 291fifth that it has XF40 (or nearly so) obverse details, and a VF reverse. Not quite enough to call it XF overall, though many probably would try.
