Jefferson nickels and mint mark placement

I seem to remember Jefferson nickels from 1938 until now having three different mintmark locations at different time periods. The locations being on the obverse on the side with the other lettering, on the reverse to the right of the building, and on the reverse above the building. During what time periods were the different mintmark placements used? Thanks.

  • Thanks. That will make the job of organizing my albums of Jeffersons easier. A follow-up question, what years are the P for Philadelphia put on Jeffersons and when did they stop putting the P?
