This years convention has so far appeared to be a great success -- tonight'sauction will tell the tale and everyone is optimistic that the auction will be spirited (bloody).

I got here in late afternoon Thurs. with wufe who moved on to Ill. to see her Mom on Fri. I got my exhbit set up and and then got ready for the evening reception. It was sponsored by Goldberg's and was far and away the best of the three conventions that I have attended and everyone else seemed to agree. The dealer setup was essentially a "bourse" session from what i could see.

Friday AM toured the bourse which appeared brisk with many collectors crowded around most of the tables. I was looking for some specific Newcomb Middle Dates to complete my date type set but alsas none on floor except for a lone VG. I turned my attention to the auction lots and went thru my list and whittled 6 or 8 down to 2 or 3 candidates. Along the way ran into several copper buddies. it was then time to go to some seminars which were of superb quality and seemed to generate great interest from the generally full sessions.

Thursday night we were treated to a tour of the Eric Newman Museum with dinner at Washington University facalty Club or some such big old house. Both paled in comparison to the treat of being able to listen to Mr. Newman himself who will be 96 in a short period of time. He spoke amazingly fluid and polished for his advanced years -- we should all be so well at 76.

I skipped the usual late night bull sessions as had to hit the health club early.

Saturday was spent looking at the exhbits which were quite interesting aand extremely polished in appearance. The bourse was again quite busy with many new faces seen from the day before. I happened by Tom Reynolds case and notice an 1854 N19 CC#1 MS65 net 64 blazing red -- nuff said I bought it - my first CC1.

I was then off for lunch with an old college buddy and Morgan Dollar collector. Got back to the convention in time to here two more seminars one on EAC Sale history --many milestones tonight -- Lot 39 will be the 2000th Half Cent offered since the Sale's origination in 1975; Lot 124 will be the 20,000th coin offered, and lot 314 the 6,000 the Early Date Large Cent. Two extremely rare coins 1794 N11 and 1854 N30 will also be in the sale. Now for a nap and drink before the sale.
