I just love the look of this Canadian 1872H 25c

So many times Victorian 25c and 50c coins from Canada are cleaned to some degree. I love it when I come across a coin that has such original color that one would expect to find on a coin 100+ years old. Not cleaned or dipped.

agreed... exceptional coin. I like it and this coin is a great example of what I look for in Canadian... Victoria through Edward and including the tougher George V 50 cents.

    nice picture too...

As I've branched out into collecting toners of all varieties regardless of country or scarcity, I've been paying a lot more attention to common-date greyside and lightside material, and you're absolutely right, Don: 97% of everything out there has been cleaned. Finding truly original circulated-grade pieces is *tough* (even if you're not looking for toners). With MS grades, it's not as big an issue because... well... they're MS! But finding nice VF-XF unmessed-with examples of Victorian and Edwardian pieces is difficult, as with U.S. seated and Barber material, especially the latter. I firmly believe that 99%+ of all circulated barbers in dealer inventory are unoriginal POSs...

I agree on the George V 50 cents, tougher series to put together. All I lack now is 1936. No 1921 of course.

congrats... I rarely find ones to buy... I found an original 1936 that is a likely misses VF but it still looks excellent

Yup, no one saved them back then. They just spent them. Most of my George V 50c are G-F. Oddly enough, my local dealer had 2 1934's, so I grabbed both of them.
