Were you happy with what you received for your 1968 OPC set?

Man, that seems awful cheap for that group of stuff!

    Not happy.

Gonna sell the 100% '65 OPC privately or just keep indefinitely.

andrew , that is a bummer , did they waive the consignors fee on the set? The ryan alone is worht 800 and all the stars in 7's and 8's would go for a pretty penny not to mention the rest of the set which is next to impossible to find. sorry

    Someone got a bargain.

Sorry to hear it went so low. That's a great set that you had put together.

what were you hoping for? It sold for more than twice the REA estimate...but just factoring grading fees would put it nearly the estimate. Do you think it was the auction house or merely a unique item that required multiple unique bidders?

REA estimate was a joke. A raw set would bring at least $1,500. I would have guessed $4,500+ if it was on eBay. I would have hit the buy-it-now at $4,000 even though I already have a set.

Between $4500 and $5000 was the reasonable expectation. OPC has a limited audience, but appreciation for pre-1977 issues is on the rise. Seems like most consignors’ expectations weren't met, but that means there were some deals on the buy side. It's nice that REA allowed me to net the difference. I privately sold a high-grade raw '71 OPC complete set last year (with about 25 graded cards) for $4300. All my other OPC sets were sold on Ebay with better than expected results. Only this graded '68 set and the '73 were less than expected.

Thanks for the comments. Anyone contributing to my disappointment fund?

That stinks. Sorry to hear that it didn't go as high as it should.

I've found in the past that very, VERY few people care for OPC Baseball graded. I've had a lot more competition for the raw cards.

Aren't OPC sets a LOT more difficult to assemble than Topps sets? Raw or graded?
