Removing glue-residue of an old price-sticker

Can anyone recommend what can be used to remove the glue-residue from an old price sticker off a graded PSA card. So annoying to receive a card this way. What were they thinking?

I put mine in the kettle when I'm making pasta.

The card often gets soaked and warped, but there's no more sticky stuff!
  • LOL. It's not the card but the PSA case-holder. I removed the sticker with the glue still left on the back of the holder.

Try a little nail polish remover (my wife had it!!) on a rag or tissue paper.

hair dry works really well .heat up the sticker and its glue and it should come off in one piece.

Alcohol does it also. As well as "Goof-Off" <----you can buy that from Wal-Mart.

WD-40 also works, or you can just rub your thumb back and forth over the residue and it heats up and comes off most times.

  • Use just a touch of peanut butter, Rub on sticky area, let it sit a few seconds then wipe off. Works like a charm!

  • There is a product made especaily for removing adhesives from things like that. It is even safe to use ON the photo itself. It's called UN-DO and is sold anyplace scrapbooking supplies or crafts are sold. Walmart has it in the craft section. It works better than any adhesive remover!

I have a spray bottle of that "Goof-Off" stuff, and it works like a charm on PSA slabs (no residue or smell).

Take two Q-tips. Dip one in Cottage Cheese and spread on the gluey area, and let dry. Take the other Q-tip and dip it in a carbonated beverage- preferrably Dr. Pepper. Then freeze that cue tip for 45 minutes, remove from freezer and soak in whiskey. Then you rub the whiskey/Dr. Pepper soaked Q-Tip over the dried cottage cheese. Now here's where it gets tricky- you're going to take a dandelion flower and cut off the yellow flowery part. Press the flowery part over the gluey area and place a heavy book on top and let sit for 10 days. After 10 days are up, removed the book and dandelion flower and rub gluey area with rubbing alcohol. That should get the glue off.

Lee's suggestion is a tried-and-true way to get the job done--but he left out an important part of the process. During the 10 days that it is sitting with the heavy book on top--you must rotate the card 45 degrees every hour. It is especially tough during the normal sleeping hours--having to get up once an hour--but it is well worth the result.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

  • Has anyone removed a price tag from a (brittle) wax tray?

    Good for you.
  • Thanks.

I thought Goo-Gone would work. Never used it on old cellophane though. I'll give it a try.

It works on cellophane. Already tried it. just let it set for a minute, the stick will come off perfectly.
