Mail Disaster Averted - Has This Ever Happened to You?

Have ya ever received a package like this?

This is the second time with a T3 and it's inexperienced ebayers.

Yes, it was peaking out the end and could easily been pilfered! It does have cardboard but they didn't tape the end shut to avert the holder from being propelled up thru the cardboard sleeve and breaking the envelope - it cost 8.72 to ship - it would seem it could be sent priority for that and use their envelope/box?

And as long as I'm here - I would normally put this in the "mailcall" thread but I'm not paying by the
word! image

This is graded #18 for my registry set. The seller was an extremely nice guy who's having to raise money for his kid's tuition. Been there - done that!

Only 82 to go. image

At this rate I'll be done by about 2022! So, it's keeping me alive. image

  • For the first time ever this happened to me today.

I got a package, pretty much the exact same size as yours. It was torn open with nothing in it. Luckily, I was home and heard it being dropped off so went to the front door. I asked the mailman what the deal was. He said, "What...there's nothing in it?" And I said, "You really didn't see this huge hole in it?"

He asks me if it was possibly a book with a baseball guy on it...which I said that yes, I was expecting one. He called the postmaster on his cell right there and he'll supposedly deliver it tomorrow.

Kind of weird, though, that it didn't come with one of those "Sorry your package was damaged in transit..." notes.

edited to add pic - in addition to the hole, the flap on the right edge was COMPLETELY open (hence why the book wasn't in it).

  • I had won a Factory Sealed 2000 Collectors Edge Supreme Update set and the seller sent it in a similar envelope. And the box was sticking out of the envelope too. They claimed they had a company that packaged their orders and so they weren't really at fault. But did refund my money. I got to keep the set but big deal all most all of the rookies were destroyed.

Wow gotsparks - that's not cool!

I had the same thing happen - envelope - broke open at the end - no book.

I got a full refund - no questions asked.

Glad honesty prevailed on my card!

Last - just told the wife I 'acquired' the card - I told her aliens made me bid on it! image

WOW ! that is amazing !
Even more amazing nobody stole it .
Pretty odd, I just posted a thread very similar to this one just a few minutes ago, before seeing this one .
I'm glad everything worked out for you Stone, Lord knows it definitely could have gone the other way .

    And GOTSPARKS !
To have seen that in my mail ?
Words just completely escape me on how I would have felt .
Did you get your book ?
I sure hope you did .
We go through lifetimes of waiting sometimes to aquire some of the stuff we have and to lose it in a blink of an eye can litterally kill some of us.
  • Nice pickup Stone, thats certainly an eye catching set.

Thanx for the kind words on the set guys.

But, if ya wanna see the king with respect to diligence and hard work - not to mention a fine writer on the nuances of the T3 set - ya gotta look at Qualitycards.

He's at 86% and there's a scan of EVERY card! No other member with that kind of completion has scans.
Plus there's write-ups on the players. I'm behind in my personal writing contributions.

And last, if ya missed it, here's a nice concise article written by Jay on T3s.

MIKE - Glad you liked the scans & links.
Keep in mind the article I wrote was almost 2 years ago
and some info has changed and some stuff I should have added.

Since I haven't posted a T3 on CU in awhile
here is a recent card I picked up last month.
All the action shots are a bit tougher as a whole then the

You both should consider yourselves lucky. I had a padded envelope come me that had burst on the top. One PSA graded card was missing, the other 4 including the most valuable was still inside. I picked this up at my PO box and immediately asked the manager if any thing was found in the back. He checked and said no, then gave me a form to fill out about a loss. Well that was about a year ago and have never heard from the PO about it. I emailed the seller and told him about the problem. The PO said that it looked like the package was over stuffed and blew out. The seller claimed that couldnt have been and with out saying so told me tough luck buddy.

    Sorry to hear about that.

I contacted my seller and he was so apologetic. I told him no problem - no harm, no foul.

He needed to know for the future since he's gonna be selling a few more T3s in the near future.

    Contratulations Jay.

Great card - the card presents way better than the 2 it got - and that I like!

How about an update when ya get the time?

If ya make it to Texas - and the set it complete - we'll party! Burgers and beer of course - BTW - same offer even if the set isn't complete!
