Ebay Feedback V2 Release April 30th.... faulty

I was looking at the new ebay software Feedback V2.... IMHO it contains a basic fault... it allows a 1 to 5 star rating.... most experts would always agree that 1-5 is not the best way to go if you want a true score...they recommend 1-4.....I also dont think the cat are that great..... communication, delivery time, as described, etc... oh well it will be interesting to see if it helps...... as we all know most people are afraid to leave negative feedback since all that happens is you get a neg in return.....

Yea, if I remember the metrics and quality improvement seminars I went to moons ago, they preached never to allow a "Fence-riding" grade (3 in this case), but to include only even numbers, so they have to side towards a positive or a negative.

But, I think the new feedback system could have some positive aspects, a great overall transaction with maybe one minor part that isn't outstanding can be reflected better than simply a negative.

I'd be interested to see how it looks after a few months though.

Given past history, will anything other than a '5' be considered negative?

In a culture where a neutral is basically a negative, one has to wonder if a '4' might become a neutral and a '3' (a true neutral) would be a negative.

Thing is, only buyers will leave these ratings for the sellers (in addition to the standard feedback). The seller will still give a positive, neutral, or negative. This should, in theory, make it more realistic and not have every rating come through as 5,5,5,5,5.
  • I don't see it documented yet, but in an earlier version of this new feedback system that I saw a while ago would only allow the seller to see their feedback AFTER they have already left feedback for the buyer - they preventing a neg in return...

It will be interesting to see how things work when it gets rolled out!

As an FYI, and odd numbered scale is the standard for judging or scoring. Look up Likert scale for reference. The trouble with an even numbered scale is that you force opinions where there are none. You need a neutral position.

It will be interesting to see how many people get the new scale backwards. This always happens with rolling out new scoring systems. I will be watching to see what happens.

my point exactly....you do not want a neutral position....the whole idea is to take a position
