Three I only regret I helped my Dad and brother sell their 10 at $250 per set. They were happy, as they bought on my advice, but could have done better.
Sure, could have kept a bunch and gotten more now, but the first batch of 10 I got, I had 2 PR70 reverse Proofs and 2 PR70 DCAM. Also had many MS69/PR69. Sold about 7 sets, made the down payment on a new car the wife wanted.
Kept a few sets.
Had a co-worker order 10 sets for me right before they were sold out. Sold 1 box of 5 sets (unopened) for $1500, kept the other box of 5 sets (still unopened). I don't even know what they are going for right now. I had told myself when they hit $400 per set, I would sell the box of 5, but now, I am thinking $500+ (I watch them in the mags going for $300 for the RP, $110 for the UNC and think they still have room to grow).
I sold my three sets for $180 per, so when I see the current prices, it is a minor irritation. I sometimes wonder who is buying at current prices. Seems a bit crazy to me considering how long they took to sell out at the mint.
All a person can do is learn from past experience, don't fight the last war (the next one often goes opposite), and move on. Dwelling in the past, will drive a person crazy, and is a poor use of time and energy. Move forward, hopefully wiser, and stronger.
I still have my five and am blown away at the rise in price. I don't even collect the SAE program, but I knew grab 'em early with that mintage.
Only regret was I couldn't buy 10, Wife don't mind the collecting but $1,000 bucks more added to five of all of the subscriptions was pushing it last year...she knows there value now though, can't help it because I faithfully have pointed it out in every new Coinworld paper.
Sure, we want to go home. We want this war over with. The quickest way to get it over with is to go get the bastards who started it. The quicker they are whipped, the quicker we can go home. - General George S. Patton
<< <i>Not me. I never regret taking a profit. Bulls, bears, and pigs. >>
DITTO, but I still kept one of the 10 sets and would have even if the prices plummeted. I like the reverse proof and can't wait to see the platinum version. Just wish I did not dump all of the gold sets.
Some must believe the 2006 anniversary coins have reached their peak.....Lots of listings on ebay and one dealer has a lot of 50 69's listed this morning.
My original goal was to hold them until they hit $300 each, but they have passed that mark and seem to keep going, so I plan to hold them for a little while longer. Not sure how to decide when to sell, however...

I was fortunate to get three boxes of ten, I bought 10, my neighbor bought 10 for me. A co-worker bought 10 and only wanted 4 sets so I gave him 4 sets I purchased with another friend. I still have three boxes of 10 and since I am still stationed overseas, I am holding. I will most likely sell next year when I return to the states and use the proceeds for a down payment on a new home, I'm hoping to get 5k per sealed box of 10. So, for a 3k investment, I figure I'll have 15k for a new home. I'm very pleased. Or, I will continue to hold if I think there is a chance they'll continue to rise. I suspect 500 per set will be the max for these. Does anyone see them selling for >500 in the future?

The problem is, these aren't stocks. You can't just keep a trailing stop loss order on them and forget about them. It's not like you can quickly get out of a position as soon as they fall by $20 per set. When it gets to that point, liquidity might dry up and who knows how low you'd have to sell for, assuming you were motivated to get out of your position?
Bulls make money. Bears make money. Pigs get slaughtered. You might want to consider selling at the first sign of slowing price increases. You could still get out just before the top, which is usually better than trying to get out just *after* the top when there will be a stampede for the exits.
Like I said earlier, I've already made my moneyback + sum. The ones I am holding now are "gravy" and a gamble. If I make more moon money, I am all smiles, if not, I lament.
I haven't sold any yet... (I have one pcgs 69/69/69 set and the rest are uncirculated "w" )
given how well the 1993-1995 proof silver eagles have held up in price and even the other dates like the 1996 and 1997 and given the demand for these 2006-w eagles is many, many times that of any of these proofs from the mid 90's, and given they are the lowest mintage coin classified as a "regular strike" by the PCGS registry, I still see plenty of upside for the uncirculated "w" eagle. Simple supply and demand.
I think the 2007 mintages will blow past 1 million and even 1.5 million coins making the whole situation that much better.
i bought 10 sets split in 2 orders from the mint for the sole purpose of flipping. sent both for grading. the first order got there in time for first strike. got 1 reverse proof PR70 first strike and sold it for an obscene amount of money. next order had 2 RP70`s, the last of my 10 sets are on the bay now, don`t regret selling them at all, my only regret is not finding friends/relatives to buy for me.
<< <i>Nope. Got my 1, oogled at it for a little bit, made a nice couple bucks profit in selling it and I know it went to a good guy. Good enough for me >>
Same here, sold it to a fellow board member for a decent profit.
No regrets. Bought 10 sets myself, graded First Strike, and sold only two coins (68, 69 RPs).
Also advised 3 friends to buy for themself, and if they did not plan to, asked them to buy for me and I would pay them $1,100 for 10 sets. Two refused the $100, one took one set (I bought on the after market for $225). So I have most of a graded first strike (non-sense) set, and three sealed boxes of 10.
Now my brother and dad took me up on buying for themselves. Then on my advice, they sold out at $250 per set. I thought most of the quick gain was complete.....
In one of my few strokes of luck with ordering from the mint, I purchased one set when they first went on sale and completely forgot about it.
A couple of months later a friend showed me his set and I said to myself "I really should get one". I ordered online and was told wait time was about 2 months. To my surprise, I got my set a week and a half later! I was actually singing the praises of the mint's speed and efficiency for about 2 months until my "surprise" second set arrived.
I still have both and have no intention of getting rid of either in the near future.

sage advise
if there is a stagnation, then a correction....we will see it drop a noticeable amount, then pull back and plateau......somewhere...these won't keep climbing like a rocket forever. $500 seems like a stable point for raw, who knows.
Did not buy any , did not sell any of the ASE sets. I was too busy counting trees. Now I'm looking at a dead cow's skull for fractures. Ah, what State are you in ?

Just buy a gold set with the flipping proceeds from plat sets
Box of 20
Have sold the 7 lowest sets for total price of about 2500.
So I am up about 800 and still have....
2 full sets of 69's in first strike
1 set of PR70DCAM / PR70 / MS69
So I'm pretty happy with the whole situation.
Eric
I sold 3 / 69 Sets for what I had in the deal, kept 2 Sets a 69 and a 70..."-)
So I'm vary happy, the 70 set is going now where but up...
Currently Listed: Nothing
Take Care, Dave

but counting on these sets to hold their value long term
sounds rather risky.

I will get around to selling all but one set at some point.

I wish I would have just sat on them.
I just wish I hadn't opened one box up. The coins are really nice .... but ..... what can you do?
At least I did break up my sets so I do have the 1 sealed box of 5.

I can't imagine these would go down in value. I see nothing but upside...mine are put away in the safe deposit box.
