Anyone order the free books from Universal coin and bullion?

I just ordered mine, thanks to the column in "Coin World"

For those who don't know, it's 3 books - Indian Head gold Eagles, Type II Double Eagles, and Type III double eagles.

All it takes is a request call to 800-459-2646.

I can't resist a freebie.

I'm not a shill for this co.

The books are by Mike Fuljenz and Douglas Winter. They removed the authors names from their versions for marketing purposes.

I thought about getting the books from them but then decided it would be better to get them the traditional route as opposed to as a marketing freebie.

Do not be surprised if you are now on a "list" and will be getting phone calls and stuff in the mail wanting to get you
into a coin "investment" program of some kind. They didn't just do this promotion from the goodness of their heart. image

I just called and got them and they said that other than a verification call, there will be no contact with you. Sounds like a good deal.

I ordered the books and a roll of SAEs from UCB about three years ago, and I have been pestered with calls ever since. Not worth it.

Mailing it in. I don't really care about the phone calls.

After reading the replies, I'm glad I wrote on behalf of our club's library and used the old PO box. image

    LAwsuit?

I have the phone calls covered - I have a "dead" phone that I never answer anyway, so not a big deal on that one.

Everyone knows that I cannot pass up a book offer, especially a free one, but I did not order these because of the reason above. I get enough calls during the day from stock brokers and insurance salesmen. I don't need coin people calling me now, too.

Latest I heard (a few weeks ago) was that the lawyer was increasing the size of the lawsuit to just over $1 billion dollars and were still
looking to sign up more clients.

I gotta be honest. Whenever I see their gold and silver specials advertised, I can't hop on them fast enough. On three different occassions I have picked up $5 eagles, and ASE's, all NGC, way below market prices. When I bought the coins, I had absolutely zero sales pressure and have had an occaisional sales call.

Now, I play the part of a new coin collector just to hear what they are offering in their follow up sales call. It is scary. They were trying to peddle some $20 Libs for $1,000 over GS. I politely declined.

But all in all, I have to say, nothing but great experiences with them.
  • They sent those 3 to me months ago, gratis, when I got the ASE's they were giving away. There was a thread about this some months ago, thats where I saw the info on the free ASE (only had to pay $10, I think it was for shipping).
    giggidy!
