Cards being crossed over from GAI to PSA????

Guys,

Does anyone know how good the crossover rate is from cards being crossed over from GAI to PSA?? Do the cards usually crossover at the same grade? For example if I buy this card a 1968 Topps Nolan Ryan GAI 9, does anyone think this card will crossover as a PSA 9. See attached pictures below!!

I hope the images worked if not I'll try and fix it. If you can see the images do any of you think this will crossover as a PSA 9.

Thanks,
Roland

I have a tough time believing a GAI would cross to a PSA 9 on a card like that, but you never know. It depends on how it came to be in that GAI holder in the first place. It's worth measuring and checking out the PSA grading standards to see what you think. (Be objective). I wouls also suggest posting this on the Sports cards and memorabilia forum. Try to get the pics working first though.

I have had some very good success crossing modern cards from GAI into PSA holders. My vintage experience was not nearly as good. There are plenty of guys who can tell you what their experience is. I can tell you that they'll tell you to submit it for crossover in teh GAI holder first, and if it doesn't cross, a crack and resubmit will be your best bet.

Ive crossed over about a dozen GAI cards to the same PSA grade.

I think GAI is a close second to SGC for grading, except no qualifiers on SGC either.

  • Roland,
Crossovers are only good if you have a good eye.........
  • Thanks everyone for you input. It's basically a gamble when crossing over cards to PSA.

    Thanks,

imageI have to tell it like it is. I buy the card and not the holder. I've had no problem with GAI's grading. SGC breakouts and cross overs have not had the same result. I've sent in 4 SGC cards in my last 3-4 subs and have had a problem with each one. I notice pointy cornered 1971's do not do good crossing over to PSA. Does anyone remember the famous Doyle tobacco card that SGC graded and was sold by Alan Rosen to the then ESPN guy? It was severely altered and SGC graded it and a major dealer sold it and there was a problem immediately when the buyer received the card. This specific case bothers me with a grading companys' credability. Anyone like to comment on the horribly altered Doyle card graded by SGC. This is one of the major rarities in sports cards.

I think it had an "i" glued on it or something like that. I have had problems getting cards crossed over from GAI especially 1955 Bowmans. GAI has stated they don't look at paper wrinkles as harshly as PSA so check your card closely for paper wrinkles on the front or back.
