Question on GW Pres $ FDCC -- Which is best to keep?

2 GW FDCC's, which one would be a better grade ...

Reverse with clean face and arm but 2 hits in the field behind liberty's head
or
clean field in that area but hit on arm and face

Trying to decide which one to keep

Pass on both and find a nicer one.

I only have 2. Am expecting 2 more.

Also, one has a definite keeper P and the other has a definite keeper D as far as marks on the obverse go.

Are the P's harder to find in good shape?

Anyone else that can help me out as far as which would be the better grade?

On a side note, I notice on the main pcgs page where they list articles, that they are going to attribute the upside-down lettering as Position A and the right side up lettering as Position B.

  • Just listen to your "inner voice." Can you hear it? What does it tell you? Trust the collector within.

    Grades are based on standards.

    Both have 2 hits
one has it on arm and face
the other has it in the field area behind liberty's head

Which of these would be the better choice to keep taking grading standards into consideration

Keez, The P mint is a lot cleaner than the D mint IMO.

Thanks Mach, what about hits. Are 2 hits in the field behind liberty's head considered worse or better than 2 hits on the statue, 1 on arm and one on face?

Thanks anyway Mach. I purchased a PCGS MS65 P&D $ set to see how easy/tough they were being graded. I was surprised that the 65 had so many hits on george's face and figured they were taking into account that these went through the edge lettering machine and got more dinged up than a coin that doesn't go through that extra step. A sac for example, would not have gotten a 65 with the same number of dings.

Bumping this up for the weekend crowd; still seeking a reply.

  • keep the ones with the least distracting hits. i would think a hit on the device would count against the grade more than the same hit in the field. why not keep both? image

  • Funny... I find hits in the Fields more distracting as they stick out like a sore thumb...

Like coinman said, just keep both..."-)
