1915 Matte Proof Lincoln

About a month ago, surfing the net, I came across a NGC PF64BN 1915 MPL for less than $400. There was no photo, but at that price, I don't care. I called Delaware Valley Coin and inquired about it. Naturally, it was gone but did I want to be put down for second refusal? "Yeah....go ahead.." I said, thinking that I would never hear from them again. Well, guess who called yesterday? The lady told me that she had over 15 responses for that coin and I was next in line and did I want it? ummmmmm....OK...sure...I guess so. Good Lord...how bad can it be? The only way that sucker is going back is if someone has carved their initials in it.
So...I told Mrs. curly that a new little package was going to be delivered to Poppa later this week. She just smiled and said "Can I hold it when it arrives?" I said "Sure darlin'."
I guess the moral of this story is....never give up....sometimes blind hogs do find acorns.

when i see an ebay seller sell something i like, i contact
them and inquire what else they are selling, or do they
have another copy/coin/etc...
that method scored me a copy of Visions #1 (1979) 1st
appearance of the flaming carrot a few months back.

<< <i>It must be a real dog for someone to pass on it for $400. I hope it eds up looking decent for you. Let us know how it ends up.

I figure it has to be presentable with a 64 grade. I think the first buyer developed a case of "buyer's remorse".
I'm looking forward to it, after all, it is a MPL and after this one I "only" need two more for a complete set.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
<< <i>I wonder what those two might be...
I think you guessed it, 1909VDB and 1916.
You know.....a dealer actually called me from the Baltimore show with a first refusal for a 1916 PR65RD and I actually turned him down without even considering it! After eating my heart out for about a week, I called him up and apologized. What a dummy I was.
It'll not happen again. Mrs. curly has done give me the green light!
