<< <i>I'm pretty tired of little maps on our quarters.... did we forget that there is something cool called medallic art?? >>
One thing about the SHQs and maps is that the SHQs are supposed help teach people about the states. Some anecdotal surveys have shown many Americans can't even name all the states much less know what they look like and where they are
What? No one agrees with New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson:
<< <i>New Mexico's quarter design is simple, artistic and intriguing. It would be difficult to incorporate all the facets of our history and culture through any one image or a collage of images. The design is a creative, alluring symbol and a distinct representation of New Mexico. >>
If you don't like the final design, which one of the FOUR designs created by the US Mint would you prefer? Here are all the US Mint designs for your viewing pleasure
UGH !! How Enchanting ! I mean- that is so bad that i don't think i will include it in my set. Totally disgusting-i really hope that they do reconsider and change it--I mean comm'n. 9-10 years to plan it and all they came with is that?? This is a hoax thread isn't it?? O well maybe it will look better in reality--

I didn't like any of their proposed designs. What's funny is the way an online publication in New Mexico described the 4 candidates when they were first asked to vote for the best:
"Remember when you were young and your parents or teacher told you about how there were "Elections" in Communist Russia -- but they were rigged so that the ballot choices were "Stalin, Stalin, or Stalin." Apparently the people who are designing our quarter have taken a page from the old soviet election book when announcing their 4 candidates. "
