Draped Bust Half Question

I have been very interested in a nice Draped Bust half, but dont know much about how the early ones show wear, cleaning, etc. This one on ebay caught my eye and looks original to me. Its raw. Am I way off base, or what. Help me out. Here is a link to the completed auction:

Edited to add: Is that a cud at 11 or a rim ding?

Seems to be a washed out fine to me. Actually a VG with fine detail, if that makes any sense. That coin is OK but not real nice IMHO. Go for a higher grade if possible. It did sell for about what it is worth. Just my opinion for what it is worth. It does seem to have some rim dings but not bad ones. Bob

The mark at 11:00 does appear to be a rim ding and not an artifact of the Castaing machine. If you want a type piece then you will have to buy an 1806 or 1807 since the other dates are far more scarce than those. However, the 1807 is often weakly struck in comparison with earlier dates and, as such, the 1806 is generally a good choice. I would grade the coin in auction as F12, but the key would be the surface preservation, which cannot be told by the simple scan.

From those images it looks like a good enough coin to me. I'd be willing to bet that it's a rim ding and not a die state factor.
