Most Valuable English Milled Pennies

OK, other than the famous 1933, 1937 pattern E8, 1952 and 1954 pennies, which would be in order the most valuable milled pennies?Let's compare (speculate) unc. specimens - which is hard since some may not be known, all by date and not hypervarietal:

I think it might be 1922 Rev. 1927>1882 London>1827>1860/59 copper>1869>1843>1849>1926ME>1864>1875H>1919KN>1918KN>1919H>1918H.

What say you?

What about the 1863 1d with the die numbers 1 through 4?

The list may be more difficult if condition is considered as well.

Hey RBC, it seems you may have all of these? I was still talking about the varietals as being just that as opposed to date rarities. Yes, the 1808 is very rare.

The Lizzie II gold strike seems crazily overpriced as that was a contrived OMS along with a lot of other products turned out at the Royal Mint at that time.

But some datal varieties are obvious and SHOULD be included.... such as the 1877 narrow date F-90

Excellent, but as you know the key question would be how well preserved on these 1869's.

RBC, sounds as though you may be a bit coy with that and a nice collection - congratulations even without knowing the specifics! These are not always the forums to discuss details, but this series is doing rather well at the moment.

Does the 1903 with "open 3" count for anything? The last I saw, it was very tough to find it in high grade.

Best specimen I've heard of is probably a Fine or VF...........
  • And there is also the 1863 open 3, but I believe that is known in a higher grade
