libertas americana BICENTENNIAL french restrike

I know that the french mint is restriking the bronze and silver for 2007. But I know little about their 1996 gold restrike. How many were issued? Is the coin available on the secondary market and at what price? Thank you to a newbie who is quickly becoming fascinated by tokens and medals.

    I haven't heard of any 1996 versions but in 1976 they made 1776 and in 2000 they made 500. They come up for sale every now and again.

    There were 3 gold ones struck in 76. I sold one to a NYC collector and do not recall if the other two have ever been offered.

    I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.
