perkdog, What do you think of the Red Sox green jerseys I've been seeing lately? I'm not a fan. It is the same way I feel about the Yankees blue jerseys they wear in spring training. Don't mess with perfection. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P.S. I always liked the 1917 White Sox uniform

BTW, anyone have a photo of the uniform the Pirates are wearing from time to time these days? I havent seen them but on highlight reels (and the Rats dont make many highlights so I havent seen um much) but I remember something like a Black/Green/Red/Gold looking uniform that I couldnt get over in the series vs the Giants about a week ago.

Now that is ugly, and where in the world did it come from? The video I say had the players wearing long sleeves under it that must have been black but almost looked green ~ it looked plain ol nasty in an 'un-cool kinda ugly' way unlike the 70 Indians...

Nah, I meant "Where in the world did it come from" as in "what in the world were the designers thinking" ~ thanks though!

The Pirates started incorporating a little touch of burnt orange about ten years ago. I think if you go back far enough in the club's history, they would feature that color from time to time (it seems to me that it's depicted on some of the Goudey cards, although I could be wrong about that.)
Personally, I really like the Braves uniforms as they look right now. They've featured them since 1987, when they brought back the tomahawk on the chest and wisely changed it's color from the black used in Boston and Milwaukee to red, like the letters themseves. Adding the great caps they used the first few years in Atlanta was a nice touch.
Being a long time Pirate fan, I can attest to the fact that the designers wanted to make a uniform that was ugly enough to match the team's play over the past 13+ seasons. I personally liked the Pirates uniforms from the early 1960's the best. I also like their mid-1970s version as well (the mostly white version which I believe was their home jersey). I'm probably partial to the mid-1970s uniforms since that's when I started following baseball. I even liked the Astros' rainbow uniforms from that period!

I love any of the sleevless unis that are out there now like the Pirates or Devil Rays. I kinda like the Red Pirates uni if they only wear it occasionaly. They tried all black a few years ago and a grey hat.
Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set
I also like the Pirates Alternate home uniform from a few years back. It was black with red and gold trim. I bought a couple of game used jerseys and they are my favorite parts of my game-worn collection. They were a little different from just a couple of years ago because they had sleeves compared to the vest-style.

Agreed. I've had that image of Bad Henry as my avatar here in the past. Those had huge letters on the back for the player's names, like the 70's Reds jersey's did.
These ones they wore for a few years in the late 60's and early 70's are cool, too.
Love the pic of Nolan and James Rodney Richard. What an intimidating 1-2 punch they were.
I agree with GDM67--the Braves uniforms have been my favorite since they brought the tomahawk back (although I absolutely hate the Sunday red)
Runner up: 1998 Cubs white with blue pinstripes, with the angry blue cub/red C patch on one sleeve, and the Harry Caray memorial patch on the other sleeve.
the old orioles away jerseys with Baltimore on the front (60's) and any uniform from the late 1800's and early 1900's and of course the ty cobb collar pop

edited to add: why would the pirates change their colors? Every pro team out of Pittsburgh uses the black and yellow concept. Why switch that up?
Personally, I really like the Braves uniforms as they look right now. Conservative, with classic style.
