A Musician/Music Writer, A Pro Baseball Player, A Dentist

It's been a while since I've written anything here and since I've been gone for a bit - I thought this would be a good time to get back in the swing of it.
So....what do they have in common?
They’re all the accomplishments of Guy Harris “Doc” White. He played for the Phillies and the White Sox – a career that went from 1901 to 1913. He had a life-time win/loss record of 189/156.
Doc White was born in the DC area and attended Georgetown University where he received a degree in Dentistry.
His best season was 1907 with 27 wins, a 2.26 ERA in 46 games.
When he was 89, he saw Don Drysdale surpass his record of 45 consecutive scoreless innings – June 4th, 1968.
But perhaps most impressive was his AL-record 65 1/3 innings without issuing a walk.
Doc White was the first pitcher to strike out four batters in one inning at the present pitching distance of 60 feet, six inches. He accomplished the rare feat on July 21, 1902, pitching for Philadelphia against Brooklyn.
Furthermore, Doc White pitched a complete game 8-3 victory over the Cubs in 1906 to win the World Series – the Sox were the underdog – Sox fans were so excited, they followed him to his home and cheered on his lawn until Doc agreed to come outside and speak to the crowd.
I picked up this sheet music recently - Gee! It's a Wonderful Game song.
Written by R. W. Lardner and the music by Doc White.

This is not my card - I borrowed it from ebay - I am looking for a crappy version since I may include it with the music in a frame.
The main reason I'm posting this is to show quality/depth of some of the people who play ML ball.
And last - here's a rather corny midi of the music along with the words to the song.

Sadly, today's players often have different stories. Perhaps one hundred years from now, posters on some CU Forum of that age will
post about the players of this time, but give me the stories of baseballs growing years which echoed the growth of our nation.
I also wish to admit that I sang along with the midi file and wasn't half bad.

Yup.
The world has gone to heck.
I've got a lot of these types of threads - but don't put them up since they draw very little fire.
Maybe I need to flash some boob with'em!

Its great to see you back.... whats your status with heritage???
Kevin
Supposedly 5 strikeouts in an inning has happened twice in the minors...
Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Hi Kevin
I've got it almost done but need some upgrades - making a list this weekend.
I'm missing Mantle #39.
Otherwise - just upgrades.
I'll be submitting my bad ones this weekend to Topps for random replacement on one shipment and specific replacement on another.
Thanx for asking!
