My First Ship

I picked this one up in a mint set that had been sitting in the local coin shop for years. All 9 of the coins in the set are nicely toned including this one. The discoloration noticed in the fields are actually nice subtle colors in the toning.

Still trying to get a good picture of the obverse, my camera sucks for determining focus, or maybe it is just my eyes.

Ah the Golden Hind captained by Sir Francis Drake circumnavigated the world between 1577 and 1580. I wonder if you have caught the shep sorry ship bug. There are so many great coins featuring ships. Nice pick up, congrats.

Ah yes, one of my favorite designs - the old sailing ships can become an addiction - great designs and history.
There are many beautiful ship coins from numerous countries so it makes for a good collection theme
