I want to thank originalisbest for his very generous gift (1975 Topps George Brett PSA 7)

Now, I know lots of people here have given each other free cards and such, but my gift from originalisbest is absoultely awesome. Now all of you know that my ultimate goal (my DREAM set if you will) is the 1975 Topps set. Well, originalisbest had recently upgraded his George Brett RC to a PSA 8, so he let me have his PSA 7 that he said he no longer needed. Now, I do still prefer raw sets, but this PSA 7 (NQ) will be an excellent tool so when comparing raw sets, as now I have a good idea of what a NRMT card really looks like, which if anything, I must have been undergrading corners wise (thinking any card with any really noticeable wear on the corners is EXMT at best). I guess once I am ready to get my own raw NRMT or better 1975 Topps set, this PSA 7 Brett will be an excellent guide to determine which cards need upgrading and which don't.

Thanks again, originalisbest; you're an angel.image

*blush* - I take it you got it? Good job Post Office, that was fast!

Yes, I think you're right in that PSA 7 '75's can have touches on the corners - especially with the colors, which show any wear clearly. Yet, they aren't as "touched" as a PSA 6 would be, for example. Then, with a PSA 8, you might have 2-3 razor sharp corners, with 1-2 showing a minor touch.

Anyway, glad you got it and like it. image

After I saw what that card goes for on Ebay, you better believe it was generous. Don't worry though, I'm not even going to consider selling/trading that card until and unless I get a solid NRMT or better 1975 Topps set of my own (which as I previously pointed out will come at the very end after I'm done with ALL my other projects, so it'll definetly take at least a couple years, minimum). Until then, I'm going to use Mr. Brett as a grading guide, as well as my "motivation" for getting that set in the end. You know, how chicks who want to lose weight have the size dress/bathing suit they want to fit in hanging on their wall as motivation for reaching their goal?

And what's a T3? Sounds like something from a Terminator movie.

You'll get there Estil! As for a T3, those are Stone's pursuit that cost a bundle and a half in low grade - anything a solid VG-EX or above, and you get dizzy from the spiraling prices! image

Oh, they also go by the name "Turkey Reds" (the original ones, large cabinet cards - pretty much the ultimate tobacco-era set.)

So basically getting a whole set of them is pretty much out of the question.

    Here ya go Estil.

This was my last pick up - HOF'er Chief Bender.

    image

These are referred to as cabinet cards and measure 5 3/4 x 8" - they're litho quality and the colors are tremendous!

And how many cards make the T3 set and how far along are you to completing it? I'm assuming you ARE trying to make a whole set, correct?
