Personally, I think this is a cool idea, however, I wonder... what cards should be involved? Should any inserts or cards from boxed sets be involved?
Lets take Will Clark for instance.
I'm sure that the folling cards would be involved:
1986 Donruss "The Rookies"
1986 Fleer Update
1986 Sportflics Rookies
1986 Topps Traded
1986 Topps Traded Tiffany
1987 Donruss
1987 Fleer
1987 Fleer Glossy
1987 Leaf
1987 OPC
1987 Sportflics
1987 Topps
1987 Topps Tiffany
But how about...
1986 Fleer Baseball's Best
1986 Mothers Cookies Giants
1987 Donruss Opening Day
1987 Fleer Exciting Stars
1987 Fleer Limited Edition
1987 Mothers Cookies Giants
1987 Topps Glossy Rookies
1987 Toys R Us Rookies

for instance, Pujols Rookie Card Collection contains 43 cards....but he had 193 cards issued in 2001...although there is presently only 1 Rookie card collection, it is only a matter of time before the Master Pujols Rookie Card Collection is born! (see my collectors Showcase)..
i believe this Rookie Registry is a great way to collect modern players, instead of the ever growing and exhaustive player sets that include all years and grow exponentially ever year...
