PCGS / ICG Problem Coin Definition

Howdy all -

I've got a small cent indian 1886 var2 that's near MS60, but has PVC spotting on it. Before I send it for grading... will grading serivces consider this a problem coin? I've never sent coins in for grading. I'm getting my first batch ready and don't want to waste money on BB'd coins.

Thanks,

BN

Yes, the coin will be returned in a body bag. You need to clean the PVC off with acetone before submitting.
  • Thanks for the reply.

Though, from what I understand you can't acetone copper?

    Or am I mis-informed?

Woah. That shared icon got me for a moment. I thought a board candidate was asking this question image
  • Oh, do I have someone's icon?
The family last name is Patton, so I chose it.
I missed the chance to upload one.

I'm not sure if the icon belongs to him but Michael Doran, an ANA board candidate, happens to be using the same one.

On CU, anyone can use any icon so sometimes it gets confusing, even if by accident/coincidence.
