Nothing to write home to mom about as these look like regular production coins. I have actually seen better from bank rolls and as far as being from new dies, well, the coins speak for themselves.

First Day coins covers, IMO, have never been very special from what I have seen.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I only ordered two. No way I would take a chance on the PCGS Labels by ordering fifty sets!

I've ordered the first day covers in the past hoping to scoop a high grade state quarter only to be disappointed and have to return them.

Those look a lot worst than the ones I pick out from bank rolls.image

And you saved $13.95 plus shipping!

I'm not grousing by any means but there has been a lot of flap about First Day of Production coins which I think is just baloney and these coins which are 2 of only 50,000 stand as a testament!

Some may get some really nice ones or at least they think they are nice but once they get graded, then the reality comes out. Those 67's out in the pop reports must be really nice coins and they came from bank rolls.

    Wow...first day of carnage...er... mintage.

Seriously, thanks for posting that. At least you showed us what the reality of this product is.

Reality....what's that? This is Fantasy Island......didn't you know that?? Seriously the ones I've opened have been crapy/dinged/assaulted by a knife or some metal object.

I just saw that NGC is slabbing these cover and all. Interesting idea.

  • Thanks for the post with pix; they say that a picture is worth a thousand words...or something like that. In any event, assuming it hasn't shipped yet, I plan to cancel my order.

Looks like ol' George was in a knife fight or perhaps had an accident on the freeway while splitting lanes, riding his Harley.
