Is there a real issue with PSA cards starting with 81 & 314?

I read in a message recently that there is some kind of speculation that cards starting with 81 and 314 may be graded lighter than most PSA graded cards. Is there any truth to this? I have a lot of cards that start with 81. Thoughts?

At the end of the day, you have to buy the card and not the holder...
<< <i>Nah, I don't think there's any basis in that. I think on any given day, you can get a 7 or a 10. I think the bulk submissions usually get assigned those numerical prefixes. If you really want to start losing faith in the graded card business, you just need to hear the stories of cards going from 7s to 9s or 10s. That should make us all happy. Tongue planted firmly in cheek. I've had PSA 10s where the centering was about 85/15. I've had BGS 7s come back as PSA 10s. I've had absolute blazers come back as PSA 8s. Losing faith by the day here... >>
Mark,
you're absolutely right here. But I think you have to admit, as I'm sure PSA would if pressed, that bulk grades given the 814--- Cert. #s are usually graded much less strictly than other subs. I've submitted to PSA regularly over the past 2 years and have never received an 81---- Cert. # on a card -- and I have never submitted in bulk. You recall when PSA graded 2,000 or 3,000 1993 Refractors about a year ago -- and they were all the 814--- Cert. #. Many of the huge eBay sellers routinely have 814--- Cert. #s. They submit in bulk.
Has anyone received grades 814--- that were NOT a bulk submission? I've never come across one.

I've had some hideous looking 9s with other prefixes though, too...
don't get me wrong -- so have I. I have been fortunate to sell some PSA 9s for 5X what they would be worth in PSA 8 (and they look equal to PSA 8s). I was making a generalization. I know you were too.

PSA says, "NO."
I agree.

I concur. If you really look over your cards, you can end with nothing below 9's. If you watch 4SC they will sell lots of 200-400 graded cards at a time that are PSA 8 or below. So they are getting the shaft also. Sadly that makes me feel good
