    That's some serious cabinet friction.

many collectors do not graduate past the "hole filler" mindset. I would estimate that the majority of collectors seek "an example" rather than a "problem free example"

I would not have paid anywhere near $400 for that scrap.image

I could see some YN buying it for his first key date and having a special place in his heart long after the pain of paying for it is gone.

I wonder how many stiches it will take to "close up" that chin???image
  • AH yes- another powerscrewer at workimage
  • Hit every branch of the ugly tree during that fall, didn't it?

  • Well hey, it's better than the one I don't have image

I still wouldn't bid on it.
(Old man) Look I had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was, “That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah”.

(Priest) BLASPHEMY he said it again, did you hear him?

Anyone suspicious about all the bubbles on the surface? Sure looks like a potential out-and-out counterfeit to me. One expensive lesson, about to commence...

Worries me that it's a counterfeit. I've noticed, and sent emails to this seller, on
a counterfeit $5 Carson City he was selling. Good pic and it was OBVIOUS, but he
didn't pull the auction and just blocked me instead! Yep, the problem went away!

I'm all for buying low grade key dates but man, that thing has just been brutalized!

They claim the "old obverse scratching" does not detract, and I agree.

    It repulses.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Man, in this day and age, I wouldn't even consider touching an '09-S VDB unless it was in PCGS or NGC plastic.
  • Why the interest and bidding on this "coin?" I just don't get it. One could get a much nicer example for a little more money if they looked around. Couldn't they?

Key dates are absolutely nuts right now. Even the doggiest trash is bringing the bucks. Here's a 16-D I sold recently:

    It brought $680!
