Sportscardlink.com...opinions

Any opinions on this new site? My initial opinion is that inventory is way too low, and cards are priced way too high. It is similar to putting items on EBAY w/ rediculous reserves or BIN at rediculous prices. I have put in numerous bids for realistic EBAY type prices and gotten counteroffers that are rediculous. Also, looks like there is very little activity on it...

  • Well with the site having just started up it's kind of hard to say if it's going to be worth it or not yet. There are some ridicilious prices on there but I have actually seen some best offers get accepted that were more in range with what they should be. I scope it out every couple days and wouldn't have a problem buying from there. However, on the other hand I won't be selling any cards on there with a commission fee of 10%.
  • It's encouraging to see some offers being accepted - I've made around 10 offers and all have been counteroffered basically at the listing price. And these listing prices were all about 30%-50% higher than SMR on cards that sell everyday on EBAY around SMR or lower...and also these are $200-$1000 priced cards, so i am seeing cards that sell on Ebay for $1000, listed here for like $1500. And when you give an offer of $900, they counter with $1450....hmmmmm
  • I know I had put in one offer for a T206 Christy Mathewson . The guy counter-offered, what he countered with was fairly reasonable. The card would go on ebay for about $600, he countered with $625 after my initial offer of $500. At a 10% commission, he is down $62 if I would have accepted his counter....I ended up not doing so as I found one on ebay much cheaper anyway. I know personally I'd be ok listing a few cards on there (all pre-war) if they dropped the sales fee to around 7%, that would put them on a more equal playing field with ebay....between listing, final value fee, and then paypal fees.

The payment and shipping schemes are something I would
    have to get used to.

I like the fact that they are advertising.

I am going to give their site a try, sometime in the future.

They had this listed for $650, I bid $525 and it was accepted. Based on recent ebay auctions a decent deal for me. Josh's customer service was outstanding. A very positive experience fwiw.
