Numerous Potential MLB Milestones in 2007

I was browsing Baseball Reference and it looks like this year has the potential to be one of the more significant in recent memory. I was trying to think back to a season that had this many significant milestones (ones that essentially guarantee HOF election), and I can't really think of one. Should be fun.

As of 4/19:

756 Homeruns:
Barry Bonds - 18 HR needed

600 HR Club:
Sammy Sosa - 9 HR needed

500 HR Club:
Frank Thomas - 12 HR needed
Jim Thome - 23 needed
Alex Rodriguez - 27 needed
Manny Ramirez - 30 needed

3000 Hits:
Craig Biggio - 56 hits needed

300 Wins:
Tom Glavine - 7 wins needed

500 Saves:
Trevor Hoffman - 15 saves needed

3000 Strikeouts:
Pedro Martinez - 2 needed

Yes, I agree. Glavine needing only 7 wins for 300? That one kinda flew under the radar with me. Thome as well.

Assuming they all stay reasonably healthy, I agree.

This year will deff. be one for the ages! Just my opinion, but this one:

    3000 Hits:
Craig Biggio - 56 hits needed

... is the one I'm looking forward to the most. Gotta love Biggio's thirst for the game! All those years with one team too!
What will he be... like the 26th/27th/28th person in the history of the game to accomplish this?

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

Biggio has played consistently for a good long time, at a variety of positions, 2b, catcher and OF.

300 wins is the most impressive on that list.

I believe 300 wins, 3,000 hits and 500 saves are the most impressive

A-Rod's 100 Home Run season annihilates Giant Bobble Head's single season record. image

"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."

    Remember these Chuck Norris Facts

    1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
    2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday

    Some more interesting milestones:

Bonds 40 runs shy of 2200--record is 2295
Bonds 2872 games played--could reach 3000 if healthy
Bonds 2852 hits--its a reach to 3000 but you never know
    Bonds 5809 total bases
    Bonds 1940 RBIs--could reach 2000 RBIs
    Bonds 2437 BBs
    Bonds 1404 Extra base hits--record is 1477

    Also

    Thome is at 1922 strikeouts

    Biggio has 1968 career singles
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Well, if I had a guess I'd say Arod might be the first one of all of these to reach his milestone.
