New rip- strange choices......

I had a nice business trip to Atlantic City this past week, so the only way I know to reward myself besides going out and spending too much money at an overpriced steakhouse is to buy myself something to rip. Historically I've always gone for something from the late 70s to mid 80s, but I've really burned myself out on that stuff the past few years, so I decided to go with something different:
A case of 1994 Pinnacle Series 2 (18 boxes)- $180
1993 Finest box- $275
The 93 Finest box is truly a gamble because the success or failure hinges on one card. I asked Steve to crack the box and check to make sure the refractor pack (wrapped differently than the other packs) was there and he said it was. Also, I have no idea what something like a regular PSA 10 Ripken or Ryan ($50 maybe?) would go for, so maybe I could recoup some of the cost even if I don't pull a decent refractor.
The 94 Pinnacle case is really a can't lose proposition I think. The Museum cards (1:4) are really hot right now, and the Artist Proofs and other inserts sell relatively strong for mid-90s junk inserts. Just about any PSA 10 would be a low pop, and if I do luck out and get something like a McGwire Museum PSA 10, that's probably a $100 card. Even if I don't do well, I got to open 18 boxes with the chance at getting something decent for under $200.
Package was shipped today- will let you know when they get here.

Edit to say that the enjoyment I will get out of ripping a case of 94 Pinnacle would offset a $40 loss on the case.
my response anyways. No harm, no foul.

With this playing in the background, yes.

Please keep it. That is the best avatar ever! Now if you could only fit Dutch in the picture too.

Sure did. You spoke too soon on him not living up to the family name. He is soon to be starring in the Towering Inferno 2 due out in the summer of 2008.

Funny enough, that's the type of stupid crap I would do if I were a billionaire.

That would be the inimitable 'Mike Barnes', if my sources (Wikipedia) are correct.
