Cleaning burnt coins, Any help appreciated

Met a guy that had a house fire back in 1993, he has ten 5 gallon buckets of wheat cents all black charred from the fire, along with hundreds of silver coins, these didn't melt but are very charred, the silver dollars appear to have the plastic film from 2x2's melted onto them. I doubt it would be worth the effort to clean up the wheats, maybe enough to get copper value for them but I had thought about using a vibrating tumbler for the silver to clean them up after soaking in acetone. Anyone have any suggestions?
