USPS Delivery Confirmation Question

A seller gave me a delivery confirmation number for an eBay purchase and this is what I get when I go to USPS.com and pull it up.

Label/Receipt Number: 9101 8052 1390 7588 3107 71
Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on April 4, 2007 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

Any one familiar with this message? I have never seen it. All of the things I send out with delivery confirmation usually say accepted by USPS with a date.

The Post Office is not real good when it comes to scanning. A lot of times they don't scan in a Delivery Confirm and you get that message. Or, maybe the seller didn't mail it yet...

they probably us stamps.com to generate the postage. the USPS doesnt know if or when the person will put the item in the mail. but the USPS is also not good at tracking items in general either. but i would bet on the first one as of now.

jradke4 is correct. If the seller used stamps.com or some other 3rd party to print the postage, a label is generated and the label information is transmitted to USPS. They have acknowledged that postage was printed but they have not scanned the package anywhere in the system yet so it has either not been dropped off at the PO, the package has not arrived at either the destination post office or the item has not been delivered. It sdeems like if it was mailed on 4/4, it should have arrived by now so I would contact the seller and put the onus on him to track the package or confirm the date it was actually shipped.

Thanks for the info guys. I am gonna contact the seller and see if he can get anywhere with this.

I have had the worst luck getting the 06 A&G Reds team set. This is the second one I have purchased and still have not gotten any of the cards. The first set the seller shipped them unprotected in a plain envelope and half of the cards were destroyed. Long story short, I had to file a dispute and got stiffed on the return shipping. Hopefully the seller of the second set is not going to give me similar problems.

I received the cards yesterday in great shape. Seems like my 06 A&G jinx has been broken.
