What's the going rate for Beckett Baseball Card Monthlys (1986-1999 or so)
I remember reading Beckett Baseball Card Monthly (BBCM) in the mid-1990s, back when it was a pretty darn great magazine!
Unfortunately, my "father" made me throw them out.
But then again, I had wrote/highlighted in the price guides so I guess it wasn't a HUGE loss. Thus, I need to know what the going rate is for vintage BBCMs. Of course, if anyone has a huge collection (especially a complete run of several years) they want to get rid of (they don't have to be in mint condition, just readable and unwritten), PM me and we can talk.

I still have all of mine and I think I have a complete run from early 1988 to the mid 90s. I also have a lot of basketball, football, and hockey Becketts. I hate to get rid of them because they are the best thing we have to measure price trends over the last 20+ years.
<< <i>The first few issues, mainly the first, of the baseball version are still collectible. In days past it wasn't unusual to see the #1 issue going for $100+.

Well, I got a little bit of money coming in on May 3 if you change your mind. I just hope shipping such a big run won't cost too much...

Indeed, I remember seeing the first issue for sale for $125. They let me take it out of the holder to read it, and all it was back then was a price guide with a sky blue cover, nothing more. I guess for the first issue, they couldn't have possible done a Readers Write section, correct?

you want to cringe when you see the 1985 Eric Davis cards booking for $100....
or the 1984 Topps Mattingly at $85......

To READ them, silly.
And why should I "cringe" about those prices? Shouldn't I be grateful I was/am able to get those same sets/same cards for much cheaper? I for one am VERY pleased that the 1975 Topps set doesn't cost $750-$900 in NRMT conditon anymore.

I put it on Ebay a few months ago for under 10 bucks and had no takers.
So I popped the staples, ditched the inards, and framed it. It looks fantastic on my wall now.
But I must say, these mags are still today really very handy when trying to find out rookie cards from various sets (PSA's mag doesn't do this) as well as the amazing amount of errors and variations in the late 1980s. Plus, they're a fun and nostalgic read for me personally.
