FOR THE PSA EXPERTS

Why do some cards have a (OC) under the grade? I know it's for off center. Is that automatically put there and if not why would someone want it there? And what's the desireability difference between a straight PSA9 and a PSA9 (OC)? The reason I'm asking is that there is a OJ Simpson RC selling on the Bay and it's not selling too good compared to the straight PSA9. Please help the ignorant.

QUALIFIERS:
PSA will grade nearly every card submitted. Cards having significant flaws will receive "qualified" grades as follows:
OC (Off Center):
When the centering of the card falls below the minimum standard for that grade will be designated "OC." PSA determines centering by comparing the measurements of the borders from left to right and top to bottom. The centering is designated as the percent of difference at the most off-center part of the card. A 5% leeway is given to the front centering minimum standards for cards which grade NM 7 or better. For example, a card which meets all of the other requirements for PSA MINT 9 and measures 60/40 off-center on the front automatically meets the PSA front centering standards for MINT 9. If a card meets all of the other requirements for PSA MINT 9 and measures 65/35 off-center on the front, it may be deemed to meet the PSA front centering standards for MINT 9 if the eye appeal of the card is good.
ST (Staining): Cards with staining below the minimum standards for the grade will be designated "ST."
PD (Print Defect): Cards with significant printing defects will be designated "PD."
OF (Out of Focus): Cards with focus below the minimum standards for the grade will be designated "OF."
MK (Marks): Cards with writing, ink marks, pencil marks, etc. will be designated "MK."
MC (Miscut): Cards with a factory miscut, such as a diamond cut, or when another card's image is on the original card will be designated "MC."

"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
That is about the going rate lately for an OJ rookie psa 9. Ive been hunting for one for awhile, and just bought the one at the memory lane auction.
I would suspect this card will go for $800 or so, but the last one on ebay went for $970 I think.
good luck

That is correct.
<< <i>Most registry guys hate any qualifiers as it knocks the grade down 2 grades ( 9 OC = 7 and so on.) Plus the OC qualifier is just bad on the eyes. Most would rather have a nicely centered 7 than a 9 OC. Include me into the group. But for the money, and if you can stand looking at a card that is horribly off center, you can't beat an 8 or 9 OC. Still high end but not quite as high. >>
That's the information I was trying to find out. Thank you very much. Why do you think the guy that put in his listing "that he thinks it would have a chance at a 10" when it clearly can't. Right. And is what his card selling for about the norm for an PSA9(OC)?
