Atlanta Braves 2007 season: Reclaiming the Glory

There seems to be a lot of Atlanta Braves fans on these boards so i figured i would start a season thread for us.

We are looking good this season, though the last week hasnt bee the best. I was really hoping to see Hampton on the mound this season but luckily Tim Hudson is pitching lights out. If Francoeur can hit for a decent average this season, i think our offense can carry the bottom of our rotation enough to regain the NL east crown. Anyone else care to chime in?

Chipper HAS to stay healthy. The team is doing this well with Andruw in a slump! The bullpen seems to be doing pretty well, big step up from last season although I heard Smoltz say that the rotation will still have to go deep into games this year.

CLose call last night but the Braves pulled it our in the late innings once again. This team knows how to win. It is almost the exact opposite of how i felt last season so that is very good.

Tim Hudson is the key, and I love McCann their catcher! That boy can hit.

If Hudson can pitch every other day, then maybe the Braves do have a shot...

I am not a Braves fan per se, but I do enjoy them. Bobby Cox and John Shurholz (sp?) are two of the best in the business and they deserve a lot of credit for re-tooling and getting a winner on the field after one year of being down. Bill Bavasi and Mike Hargrove could use a few pointers from them. Bavasi and Hargrove are a joke compared to the quality of Cox and Shurholz.

As a younger fan, i didnt realize that shuerholz built the last succesful Royals teams until recently. That is a hell of a GM, making two small market teams succesful for long periods of time.

    Atlanta isn't small market.

middle level payrol winning 14 straight division championships is pretty impresive. They might not be small market but they are not close to the highest level.

Big Braves fan here, but they're getting off to a great start this season. They won it 9-6 against the Mets and they're playing against Florida today. Let's hope the Braves can win one here.

Why is Redman still starting? He is worse that McBride and I cant stand to watch him pitch.

What a kick in the A$$ for Hudson and the Braves tonight. Man he was just mowing those Marlins down.

Another tough night for Wickman. They were 5 feet away from blowing a 5 run ninth inning lead. That was a nice catch by Francouer at the end.

The braves trade langerhans to Oakland for a player to be named later, and recall willie Harris from richmond. I would like to see Diaz play everyday, or possibly recall someone like Brandon jones from AAA instead.

Andruw has been swinging the bat well the last few games, i hope he can get his avererage to stay around .280ish this season. I am a littled worried about tonight with stupid redman on the mound, thats always an adventure.

Reports say that Salty is gonna start tonight!image

I got his auto on an OMLB during spring training but before I could say anything he signed on the side panel and not the sweet spot!!!image

Atleast I got Renteria and Francouer on their own OMLB that same day and was on the front page of the paper meeting Renteria. Made up for it a little bit.

Braves beat the Phils 4-3. Salty goes 0-2 but not too bad. Great night for Chip, Harris and Rent! James pitched well nothing amazing though. First place!image

Salty looked good. He threw out a stealing runner early, and nearly took his first at bat out of the yard. He did get tagged out at home, but that was a great throw, most catchers are gonna be toast on that.

Good outing by Davies today. The Braves needed that from him, they have one basically throw away game pitcher (Redman) so its nice to see Davies looking good. I get a little worried, at times, about Cox leaving starters in the game too long, I guess no harm no foul today though.

Agree completely. Renteria and Salty had great games today.

Willie Harris has been fanastic as well. Its nice to see the Braves have someone to steal a base when needed.

I am a Braves fan but lets hope if they make the playoffs they won't choke out like they have in the past.

The winning continues, another good outing by davies. We have been rolling lately. Im hoping the Brew Crew can get a couple wins over the Mets to give us some seperation. Andruw had a very nice grab in basically right field last night as well.
