and keep it raw in a nice binder. I'm sure the next 20 posters will agree with me. Joe

I damaged a perfectly good 1961 Kemp that was in a PRO 9 holder.
I am interested to see any tips as well.

Ive read alot about cracking on these threads, what works for me is a little different.
I take wire cutters, angled cutters, cut all 4 corners off far away from the card, so I dont risk damaging it. this sends alot of plastic flying, so wear safety glasses, do it outside, etc. Then I just take a small screwdriver and pry the slab open from the top side.
It takes about 3 minutes, Ive never damaged a card doing it this way.
good luck

<< <i>Same as the other holders. Start with pliers on the top where the flip is (left or right corner). Once you tear off a piece of the corner, you should be able to slip a flathead screwdriver inside and then try prying around the edges to pop it up. >>
Have you done it?
I have tried and I think these holders could survive a nuclear war.

I was going to submit just to ease my mind.

<< <i>From the scan...what do you guys think? Could it be legit or is it trimmed. I have scanned and enlarged to see if edges were different..doesn't appear so. I have measured with a ruler and compared and I still cannot tell for sure. Is it just off-centered?

I certainly think it could be legit.
They make those holders the actual size of the cards. When you see space is when it is likely trimmed. I think that has a good shot at not being trimmed. The grade on the other hand will certainly not cross to a PSA 9

I would be happy for it to just cross without the dreaded "evidence of trimming" flip!

If Zef thinksa it looks alright, it probably is. My bad for scaring you.

Probably a 5 PSA; assuming that is a
crease on the right @ 60% down.
PRO holders are a VERY tight fit.
Small-size bolt-cutter to both pointy corners
of the flip-edge. Chewy motion, not crunchy.
When the gaps show up, alternate corners
with the little flathead screwdriver.
Slow and gentle. Three-minutes must be a record.
Yes, I have owned 1 PRO card in my life. It was a 1997 Bowman Chrome Miguel Tejada RC PRO 10. I cracked it out and using the above mention method. Sent it to PSA and it got a PSA 10. I think I got one of the very early stages of PRO cards. I do believe in the beginning after they broke away from USA (Ultimate Sports Authority); a lot of cards came to them that were in legit shape and then it all went to hell.
It doesn't look trimmed, to me. It's maybe a touch tilted and the centering, as Zef pointed out, would keep you from a PSA 9, but that's a solid PSA 8 card encased in a holder that seems, from all I read here, to be bulletproof. I would just put it with your other cards in the set and enjoy it's beauty.
<< <i>That's a great looking card. You've proven in the past that you're not too hung up on specific grading companies, so even though Pro is a little down on the food chain, I would go by our frequent standard of "Buy the card, not the holder."

The problem is that when I see the PRO holder amongst the others in my display...well..its like a pimple on a models butt...if you know what I mean!

While waiting for him to clean up his mess so we could get to work, I took a small chisel he had lying around just to see if it would do anything...lo and behold, I got the chisel in a bit at the top center where the flip is, pulled up and the edges separated. No muss no fuss. Second one was just as easy.
For what it's worth:
PRO 9 1955 Topps Clemente RC came back PSA 5 (thought it had a chance at a 6 but it was fairly OC)
PRO 8 1953 Satchel Paige (obvious crease) came back PSA 3 (thought it would be 2).
Good luck to you.

<< <i>The procedure for submitting cards for crossover review is simple. Simply fill out an invoice checking off the crossover tier as the service desired. List each card notating the required grade you are looking for in the xtended description box on the invoice. You might also want to stick a post-it note on the slabs notating the minimum requirements you are looking for. If you do not write minimum grades or specific instructions, we will only encapsulate the cards would meet a higher grade from us and send the rest of the cards in their original holders for liability reasons. >>
If so, maybe that's your best bet.

It is sure alot easier.
BUT, the prejudice against PRO holders might/can
influence a grade opinion. (If the size is even a tad
off, it could come back evid-trim; EVEN though it may
not be trimmed at all.)
In this case - card with potential MC and PD Qs - I
would go ahead and submit it in the holder. I agree
that the card fills up the holder too much to be trimmed.

There's a guy they hired specifically with prostetic hands who sits in the back room eating Snickers all day. They call him The Claw. He's good.
