the best price guide for ungraded set builders?

I'm new to the board, but I can tell there's a lot of good info here. I am upgrading raw, ungraded baseball sets from the 1950s and 1960s. Most are only VG or VG/EX. What is the best price guide to use to guide me as I buy? I am just getting back in the hobby, but Beckett used to be the best price guide. What about Tuff Stuff or even SMR, even though it is for graded cards. I also heard that vintageprices.com is really good, but it has a monthly subscription rate. Any thoughts?

Naxcom if you really get desperate, their search engine really sucks though.

Some of vintageprices.com is free if you enter a want list......ebay searches are good but info is for a limited time.

I'd use Beckett for anything ungraded and figure a % for whatever condition you are looking to upgrade too.

if you're looking for cards that are Ex or so, it's often less expensive to buy graded cards and crack them out than raw ones. It doesn't make sense, but it's true. And you'll have a reasonable bit of insurance that they aren't trimmed or recolored.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
