What would you grade this coin?

This is in a CGS slab (100 point system). See if you can guess the grade!

What is the cause of the pattern on the reverse field behind St. George and the horse?

    Fingerprint would be my guess.

Either Aethelred is being really harsh on his assessment of this piece, or he didn't read the bit about the 100-point scale. image

I can't say what's exactly behind St. George, but behind the horse appear to be die polish lines, as on the obverse.

Really nice coin, but I have no idea about the grade assigned by this company.

This coin is graded 78. I showed it to Coin King and two other experts at the NYINC and all three gave it a 63 plus grade on a 70 scale.

While this coin could be considered a challenge to grade in light of the die polishing, I think it is clearly Mint State which means the minimum grade should be 80.

    This coin is graded 78.

That makes sense. These TPGs always start out too tight. It will be an 84, shot 85 in a few years.

It does look like hairlines beneath the fingerprinting on the reverse and would concur with the 78.

I was grading using the 1-70 scale, I have no idea how a 100 poing grading system would work.
