OT - neat Celtics game experience with Dad

Just wanted to pass along a neat game experience last night with my father.
I got a couple of great tickets for the Celtics game last night through my work, right behind the Celtics bench (I know - who else would want Celts tickets right now?). I've been to a ton of Celtics games the past few years, but most have been in crappy seats, and usually end up going with drunk friends and sitting in the balcony, since the games aren't too exciting recently. Since these were really close seats, I figured it'd be a good experience for my father, who's in his 70s and loved the Celtics going back to his teenage days, but hasn't been to a game since the glory days of the 1980s.
Once he got over the culture shock of cheerleaders, loud music, etc., he was enjoying the game experience. Then at halftime, they had a tribute to the 1956-57 Celtics team, which won the first Celtics NBA championship 50 years ago last night. My dad lit up like a teenager again when he saw Bill Russell, Bob Cousy, Tommy Heinsohn, Bill Sharman and the rest of the team (8 players were present) up close and in person. It was a great experience.
My father has shared tons of his sports memories with me from when he was growing up - going to Boston Braves games, being at Ted Williams last game (and he's not just telling a story - he's on the front page of the Boston Globe the next day in the crowd!) - and it was his stories while I was growing up about the golden days of baseball that got me interested in vintage cards at a young age. So I was happy that I was able to do just a little something back for him - bring him to a game to see his favorite childhood heroes up close - and just see him light up like I'm sure I did when he brought me to games 25 years ago.
Glad you enjoyed it, Dad! And figured some of you may enjoy a little cool story too....

I'd highly recommend getting a digital video recorder so you can get those stories on tape. They're gems, and someday they'll be lost. It's amazing what stories you hear when you ask your relatives to just start talking.

The old Boston Garden was a dump. It's fun to sit back and wish we still had it for nostalgic reasons but anyone that goes to the C's games on a regular basis I'm sure enjoyed the new facilities.
