What are the most newly discovered errors (any 20th century set)

Like, were there any really obscure errors that were not even discovered until very recently in any 20th century set? If so, which ones? I don't mean the well known errors or ones that were discovered right away. I'm talking the ones that were not discovered until several years after the fact.

T206 Doyle NY Nat'l was not discovered until the 1980s, give or take.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I spoke to a dealer at a recent show and he mentioned that several '67 Topps Baseball variations have been recently discovered and all were ones that I wasn't aware of - which reinforces why I don't do Master Registry sets.

No, they knew about the Bill Ripken as soon as the first collector saw the first card; that doesn't count.

Ahh...... but how many know of the 14+ that are out there? I found a new one just 3 days ago and so many I have, no one has heard about. A few (4 or so) were noticed by me and my other 3 buddies and have yet to find others who knew. But I know what your getting at.

Kinda rare but not much value. Best bet is find a player collector who collects oddball. Wrong backs/fronts not listed in price guides.

I think this is so interesting. Are you just buying all the examples you can, then reviewing them to see if there's anything different about them? Are you ever going to be "done" so you can actually write an article and show us all the differences? I can't wait to see the story, if it ever happens.

I think this is so interesting-Me too. I have found something I truly love and thats about it.

I used to buy and look at them and then flip them to recoop and mention my "mission" on auction to hopefully connect with veteran collectors with knowledge. I pretty much stopped that as I dont want to put others out from getting them and it was time consuming. Now I just check out pics and versions from cases I buy.

Am I ever going to be done? I hope so. I thought there was 2 versions left and I found another the other day that wasnt known to me and realized theres another one. So I need 3 and maybe a fourth. Not counting the four I later mention as those are how do I say, non essential to me as they are errors of errors. Hard to explain. I have a pic of it and it is a saw cut (could easily be faked) and I have only seen that one and its different than any others but matches Fleer info provided in a article. So I need to pull one from a case to know if its real or not.

Revealing- I will eventually tell all. When that is, my wife feels the sooner the better. lol I have a "pact" with 2 others who have been involved as much as I and we decided its best to wait until we all have one copy of each. I want to but I must wait as its best. You wouldnt believe how many times I have heard "oh I didnt know there were that many, I want to collect them all now" and I think great, see you on the bidding floor. On the other side of the coin my "advertising" has helped me connect with collectors with knowledge and 3 times I met someone who knew someone who worked at Fleer but all 3 were deal leads. I want to connnect with someone who worked at the plant and can explain a few things. I want all the versions but also the info on how and why so I know whats real and so I can also help prevent fakes from being made. There are appx. 4 versions I dont count in my list that can be real but I need more info. on. The fact that they had printing done by another company in addition to their own only makes it more difficult. The second I have all the cards/info I will tell everyone who will listen !! On a few occasions I had to stop myself and limit info as it would cause more harm than good.

Almost every version has Double Die that I have seen. But I dont count those as versions.

When I know all, I want to contact a major publication and have twice talked with smaller "news" site that interviewed me. I wanted to see on a small scale if it would help. In all I think I rec'd 4k hits and not one email initially with info. Since then and another 4k hits I received one or two emails that helped. So I think I'll wait on contacting SCD or Beckett or whomever until I have found what I want.

    Later,Donovan
