My reverse negative collection. They're funny when placed together!

I have been meaning to post scans of my most favorite error card type, the reversed negative. I have been collecting these since the Dale Murphy UD fiasco and I love them! There are two here in which I still need an error or a corrected version (and I have yet to get an '82 John Littlefield). If you know of any others I am missing please let me know!

These were never corrected. I'm happy there was an Aaron reprint so I didn't have to buy a real '57 Aaron! The Schmidt is the rev neg on the Star promo.

These, except for the Gallego and Bubba Paris, were also never corrected. I still need an error Gallego and corrected Paris. (Anyone? Anyone?) The Blades was discovered by an eagle eye. He was #89, alas, the 8 is in the wrong place on his shoulder. Also, you can make out that the word "Seahawks" is backwards looking at it closely. The Atkins was discovered because no defensive end would have worn #18.

There was a definite lack of quality control in the early '90s when it came to the correct way to display the Blue Jay!

Here's Dale. I won't say I how much I paid for it in 1989 but there was a 1, a 5, and a 0 in the price. In that order. The Bevacqua was also never corrected.

Gonzo was another well known error of the day. I think I paid $10 back then. The Ray Knight in the center is the corrected version.

  • Amazing. Most of those I've never seen, or even heard of. Thanks for sharing!
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

got that coveted 82F Littlefield???? what's that going for nowadays?? that one always seemed untouchable......

I'll get a Littlefield eventually. Remember how it used to book for over $200? A PSA 9 sold yesterday for close to $60. I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a raw one that sold for $15 a month or so ago.

  • Either this card is a reverse negative or the runner is sliding in from first.

Impossible that the 73 Corrales is a reverse negative...look at the Cubs jersey...the number is correct. This looks like the events after a collision at home plate to me!

Good point! Didn't even think of looking at the numbers.

Corrales's glove is on his left hand, too.
  • Cool post.

I didn't know the Rick Barry was a reverse negative. I've looked through plenty of 78's and never noticed it.

Some like the Ganter are so obvious...how do you miss it??

Those are great. I really like the Ripken, Schmidt, and Mattingly all switch hitting.

How can you tell on the Brain Blades?

I bought a lot of 90 Donruss early. I think I have the Juan Gone error at about a 6-1 ratio over the corrected one.
  • dang, that must have been a hell of a collision.

I don't know how long it took before someone noticed that the photo was flipped. The lettering indeed makes it difficult to notice but you can tell the Rs in "Warriors" are backwards.

Red Heart - that is a very cool collection.image Do you have a list of others besides the 82F that you are looking for?

Add this to it: "go hang a salami" image

I have no idea why I did that.

The only ones I know for sure I need are a 1989 UD Mike Gallego error and 1991 Pacific football Bubba Paris corrected. (The Gallego error is him facing the number on the card. I have posted the corrected version.) There is also a Nolan Ryan Whattaburger rev neg that apparently is a high dollar card. Our resident Nolan Ryan expert would probably have more info on it.

As for hanging salami, well, to each their own.
