1990 Topps

I have an unopened case. Was 90 the year Topps put vintage cards in packs? I want to sell the cards. I'm wondering if the best thing to do is to open the packs, look for the vintage cards, and sell the raw cards on E-bay cheap. Or, just sell unopened boxes. I know I won't make much, but I need the space. I also have cases of 89 Topps and 89 and 90 Donruss. Any ideas (including recycle) will be appreciated.

91 was the year they put vintage cards in packs, and they were nearly impossible to pull and when you finally got one, it was a 1981 common.

Your best bet is to sell it as a sealed case.

Hey, I'm interested in the 89 Topps and Donruss cases if you're blowing them out. Would be fun just to open up a bunch of old packs and look for Gregg Jefferies rookies...

    Please LMK.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Well, I wouldn't mind the 1989 Donruss/Topps case as a freebie (just for sentimental reasons) if you can't find a buyer.

You'll probably find buyers for all of those cases here on the boards. It would be lots of fun ripping those inexpensive cases open.

Here are some examples on the going rates on some of these....

    1989 Donruss Wax Case

    1989 Topps Wax Case

    1990 Topps Cello Case

    1990 Donruss 10-box Wax Case

....all are at $150 or less. So, you're not gettin' rich off of this deal, but you will cause some folks to have some fun rippin' these packs. image

  • Arny, I was trying to think of a way to say that. You handled it much better than I would've. Nice work. image

  • I think 1990 was the NNOF Frank Thomas error. At one time that was a $2000 card, but I don't know what it sells for today. If you're going to open them, that's the card to look for, at least it was back in the day.

Right on basestealer - it's still a desirable card, maybe not $2000 worth but still. However - and I know this is a dead horse - I heard the way to find them was in vending? But I guess anything's possible?

Also perhaps there'd be a lotto-like chance of getting one of the George Bush Yale cards?
  • Arthur - Was I handled? How so?

    Thanks.
  • Steve, PM sent.

  • Lee,
I actually pulled a 69 Sal Bando in ex/mt back in 91. Retirements awaits........... image
